Computing systems today are designed to be “general-purpose”, by shipping with out-of-the-box settings that behave well for many potential use-cases. The default settings, however, do not typically achieve the best possible performance for specific hardware, applications and workloads. This paper describes an experiment in which Concertio and Mellanox teamed up for accelerating a specific networking use-case running on Mellanox’s ConnectX-3 Pro Ethernet cards. The results showed that the settings discovered automatically by the Optimizer Studio tool outperformed the best settings found through
